~  A CENTERVILLE  WALKING TOUR  ~

Now, come take a short stroll with me as we visit Craigville Beach and some of my familiar places on Main Street.

I feel that our most important attraction is Craigville Beach, just 1/2 mile from our Inn.   It is ideal for swimming, sunbathing, beach games or spending "quality time" with a good book. You will always enjoy  Craigville Beach, no matter what the season.

Up the hill from the beach and across from the Inn, is The Four Seas Ice Cream parlor.  Opened in 1936, it's the oldest ice cream store on Cape Cod.  In 1999 a PBS station in Pittsburgh, claimed that it was one of the top 10 ice cream parlors in the country .                Click her for Four Seas.

As we stroll along Main Street, you come to our library. In 1869, a group of people from Centerville formed the Centerville Public Library Assoc. In 1956, the present building was built. Today, the expanded structure welcomes all guests.

Further along, we encounter The Centerville Historical Museum, which was founded in 1952. The museum is open to the public from the end of May to the end of October.  All visitors are welcome.  The museum conducts a great  "walking tour" of the village.

To get to the Historical Museum, we pass by The 1856 Country Store ( the "Penny Candy Store" as  referred to by locals). It was built in the 1840's as  a cranberry storage barn. In 1856, the barn was converted to a general store.  It is a focus for our village visitors.

Children's Landing, The Gorham Crosby Park is located across the street from the "Penny Candy Store".  It was built by a local volunteer work force in the 1990's.  Open to all ages, it is primarily used by young children, whom are escorted by their parents.

The beautiful church pictured her is the First Congregational Church, located at 565  Main Street, 1/4 mile from our Inn.

About the Innkeepers
Nancy and Jeff Komenda

In 1976 I left the Navy, after serving 10 years as a U.S. Naval Officer flying carrier based fighter/attack aircraft.

My wife and I moved onto our antiquated
37-foot ketch with our 2 children, Rosemary
age 7 and Ted age 5. We left Jacksonville,
Florida for some extended cruising in the
Bahamas (no, it didn't take much money,
just a well provisioned boat and some rum).  While cruising, we did lots of snorkeling for our dinner.

It was 1977, when we sailed into North Bay in Osterville. We set out from our boat and explored the surrounding communities and fell under the spell of Cape Cod, Osterville, and Centerville Villages.
Oyster Harbors and North Bay

After searching throughout Centerville, we bought a great old sailing  captain's house on Main Street in Centerville. We raised our family in this  house and  forever fell in love with  the  warmth, charm and unspoiled  beauty of Centerville Village and Main  Street, with many of the  Old Captain's  homes, the Historical Society, the picturesque churches,  Centerville Library, The General Store of 1858 (referred to by locals as the "Penny Candy Store"), 4 Seas Ice Cream Parlor and the lovely Craigville Beach Recreation Area.                                             Mazzeppa Nickerson House
